The Art of Letting Go: A Poem

Please enjoy my first poem post of many. This piece is something I wrote when trying to let go of a person I loved. For each moment of our relationship, I wrote poem after poem; it only felt right to end with one as well.

The Art Of Letting Go

Let my soft lips speak with the same passion they did when we kissed

But don’t be afraid.

Today, the rain is my spotlight and I’m ready for my solo

Please. Don’t run away.

Let me tell you of my love, of my pain, of my mind

And how hard I’ve been trying to hide it.

For today, my muse, my soul, my heart

I will no longer deny it.

For you. You are my everything

But now I’m ready for a new slate

So when there is nothing, with no weigh holding me down

I’m ready to make myself a new plate.

You will haunt my lips with every kiss

And I admit, it will hurt.

But eventually, I will smile, I will laugh, I will sing

With your soft memory hiding in the lurk.
